component system
also called components · number of parts · one-part or two-part
WHETHER THE PRODUCT IS USED STRAIGHT FROM ONE TUBE OR MIXED FROM TWO. Henkel gives it a field of its own on every sheet - `Components: One component - requires no mixing` against `Components: Two components - requires mixing` - and Sika folds it into its `Chemical base` line as `1-component polyurethane`. IT IS NOT READ OFF THE CHEMISTRY: LOCTITE 3090 is a TWO-COMPONENT cyanoacrylate while 401 and 406 are one-part, and silicones and epoxies each come both ways. NOR IS IT READ OFF THE CURE: `two_part_mixing` implies two parts, but the entailment runs only one way, and the absence of a mix ratio is not a statement that a product is one-part - it is an absence [A17]. It is also the fact a buyer sees first on the shelf, because a two-part is two tubes in one carton: Habib's row 49, `Araldite (PCS)`, is bought as one item and opened as two. Concern identity - a one-part and a two-part are two products, not two cells of one buy box.
