A protected-origin designation the product carries — the anchor of a qualified bundle, a scheme token (Protected Designation of Origin, Protected Geographical Indication, Traditional Speciality Guaranteed, or a generic geographical-indication mark) naming under WHICH protection the product's origin is designated. Cardinality many, because a product may carry more than one designation. The scheme is the governed word; the designated place it names rides as a literal qualifier. Distinct from country of origin (where the product was made — a plain provenance fact) and from certification (a conformity mark): a protected-origin designation is a legal tie between the product's identity and a specific place.
