input type

also called custom input data-kind

The data-kind of a personalization field's input — a token from PersonalizationInputTypes (a line of text, a number, a date, an uploaded image — each a value the buyer supplies openly), riding the personalization-field statement as its qualifier. Cardinality one — a field takes a single data-kind. A pick-from-a-set is not a member: an offered set of options is a variation axis, not a personalization input. Region-neutral (A16): it names the input's shape, not the field's purpose (an engraving vs a name vs a gift message are all the free-text data-kind under different labels). The realised value the buyer supplies is downstream (L1).

Input type is answered with one word chosen from the personalization input types list — the same word shared across every product that uses it.

It is a qualifier of personalization field — it has meaning only inside a personalization field statement, one per statement, never on its own. It belongs with personalization field to personalization — one facet of a product.

It is answered inside every personalization field statement, not as a standalone question on a kind.
