qualifier number + unit a measured amount

price basis

The denominator of a price rate: the price amount is per THIS quantity. A numeral with a PriceBasisUnits unit — 'per 1 kg', 'per 100 g', 'per 1 lb', 'per 1 m', 'per 1 L', 'per 1 m2'. ABSENT means per 1 each — one whole item, the hidden default of every ordinary packaged price, so nothing changes for existing prices. A per-statement qualifier bound to one price statement (a product priced per kg AND, on sale, per kg carries the basis on each host statement); it never enters slot-derivation. Two prices are comparable only at EQUAL basis and EQUAL currency (the units law, TANGIBLE-AXIS §2); the legally-required per-100 g / per-litre comparison sticker DERIVES — price divided by the product's net measure IN THE MATCHING DIMENSION (net_weight for a mass-sold good, net_content for a volume-sold good), a within-dimension read (§4), never stored. The per-contained-unit view (a carton priced 'per can') is NOT a basis here — it derives from the `contains` count (RelationShapes, b81), also a read. The minimum SELLING/BILLING INCREMENT (a good priced per kg but sold in 100 g steps — the corpus's billingIncrement) is NOT a price fact and is NOT expressed here: it is the order/sale-unit layer's business (TANGIBLE-AXIS §6), homed there or on a real trigger. This is the whole of 'price as a rate': there is no separate unit-price, pack-price, or bulk-price word — a price is a rate, sometimes (tier_price) with a condition.

Price basis is a measured figure.

It is a qualifier of recurring price — it has meaning only inside a recurring price statement, one per statement, never on its own. It belongs with recurring price to subscription & financing — one facet of a product.

It is answered inside every recurring price statement, not as a standalone question on a kind.
