purchase gate
also called credential required to buy
A credential a buyer must present to complete the purchase — a token from PurchaseGates (none, prescription-required, licence-required). A product may carry several (a controlled medicine could be both prescription- and licence-gated), so the property is many-valued. DISTINCT from age_restriction (compliance, b139 — a banded minimum-age gate, 18+/21+, on who may buy) and from customer_type_eligibility (a persistent buyer CLASS): a purchase gate is a per-transaction DOCUMENT that must be verified, not an age band or a buyer segment. It governs the credential TYPE only; the specific licence a buyer actually holds (an FFL number, a prescription id) is downstream instance data, never stored here. A filterable buyer concern rendered on the product page, at checkout, and as a facet; the 'Rx required' pill a surface prints is presentation over this token (A10). An offer filter, not a product-variation axis (its concern `eligibility` yields axis-ineligibility, derived not stored).
Purchase gate is answered with one word chosen from the purchase gates list — the same word shared across every product that uses it.
