Freezing methods
How an ice cream maker reaches freezing to set the dessert: a pre-frozen bowl (a double-walled bowl frozen in a household freezer beforehand, good for one batch then must re-freeze), a built-in compressor (the unit refrigerates itself, allowing back-to-back batches), an ice-and-salt bath (a motor churns a canister surrounded by ice and rock salt, the classic bucket maker — Nostalgia ICMP400, Hamilton Beach 68330N), or freeze-then-spin (a pint of base is frozen solid first, then the machine shaves and churns it to a smooth texture, e.g. Ninja CREAMi). The four real powered architectures a domestic maker ships with — the definitional buyer choice. A growing vocabulary (L13).
