Surface configurations

The form of a surface cooker's heated cooking surface: a single flat open plate (an electric griddle); an open ribbed grill plate that sears grill marks (an indoor electric grill); or two hinged plates that close on the food and cook both sides at once (a contact grill, panini press or sandwich maker). A token category recurring across surface cookers (L11); growing (L13). It is the qualifier under which the named retail kinds (griddle, grill, panini press) resolve as VALUES rather than as separate classes (L3). It excludes the deep walled pan (an electric skillet is a walled vessel measured by its volume, a distinct class — ElectricSkillet) and the patterned waffle mould (a waffle iron is measured by the shape it moulds, a distinct class — WaffleIron); both were ejected on the adversary's finding that each states a slot a flat/ribbed/contact plate cannot.
