The state the fluid was in when a temperature figure was measured — dry, water-contaminated, undiluted, or diluted 50/50 with water. Without it a boiling or freezing point is not comparable and can be dangerously misread: 230 C dry and 155 C wet are the same brake fluid, and 175 C undiluted and 110 C at 50 per cent are the same coolant.
