bore diameter
also called bore · inner diameter · shaft diameter
THE DIAMETER OF THE HOLE THE SHAFT GOES THROUGH - the bearing table's `d`, the first number of every designation and the first thing anybody asks for over a counter. A numeral with a length unit. SKF publishes d 25 mm for the 6205-2RSH; Koyo publishes 38 mm for the DAC3874W-6CS84. IT IS MINTED RATHER THAN FOLDED INTO THE SPINE'S `diameter` BECAUSE A BEARING IS TWO CONCENTRIC CIRCLES AND THE SPINE HOLDS ONE [A5]. The spine's own definition already draws this line and names the precedent - `kind-specific part diameters (a microwave's turntable_diameter, a slicer's blade_diameter) remain separate facts of a named part, not this general one` - so a bore is the b104-era `blade_diameter` shape and not a second general dimension. The division of labour is exact and is written into both definitions: `diameter` holds the OUTSIDE diameter D, which is the product's own overall diameter and therefore genuinely the spine's fact, and this holds the bore d. A grammar with one diameter would have made `38` and `74` the same statement, and Habib's own five rows are named by that pair - `38BWD22`, `DAC3874W`, `DAC3872W`, `DAC38710039` all begin with the bore. Concern measurement.
Bore diameter is a measured figure, given in millimeters or inches.
It belongs to measurement — its measurable, physical facts.
