firing end

also called firing end configuration · how the spark is made

How the firing end is arranged — an ordinary gap, a projected insulator nose, a surface discharge, a semi-surface or surface-air-gap variant, or an auxiliary gap in series. It is ONE property and not several, because that is how the makers publish it: NGK spends a SINGLE code position on the whole axis (`P` projected insulator type / `M` small spark plug / `U` surface gap, semi-surface discharge gap or supplementary gap), and Bosch enumerates its surface variants in one column. It is minted here rather than deferred because without it the class cannot separate two parts NGK sells side by side: B6ES (7310) and BP6ES (7333) are identical on every other slot in this batch and differ only in projection. Distinct from `spark_position`, which is the number: a Bosch WR78X has a surface air gap AND a published 3 mm spark position, and a plain surface-gap plug has no meaningful projection at all, so neither reads off the other.
