brake friction part

also called brake friction material · brake lining assembly · friction part

A REPLACEABLE FRICTION BODY PRESSED AGAINST A MOVING BRAKE SURFACE TO TURN A VEHICLE'S MOTION INTO HEAT — a disc brake pad, a drum brake shoe, or a loose drum brake lining. It hangs DIRECTLY UNDER `Product` and under no automotive branch, on the campaign's bounding ruling (operator, 2026-08-25): the pool files by what a thing IS, and although UNSPSC does put brake friction in 25.17 with vehicle components — 25171713 pads, 25171712 shoes — an `AutomotivePart` branch is exactly what that ruling forbids, and no intermediate was minted because it would carry no slot of its own and have no sibling here [L3]. The alternate label `brake lining assembly` is ECE Regulation 90's own term, and R90 is the reason it is the right genus: the regulation covers replacement pads and drum linings under one instrument because they are one article performing one function in two geometries. ONE CLASS AND NO CHILD, WHICH IS THE FINDING. The queue asked whether BrakePad and BrakeShoe are two classes, one class, or values, and the answer is values — the 2026-08-25 amendment biting for the fourth proposal running after b153 lost FuelFilter, b154 lost five fluid trades and b155 lost the entire named range of plug types. The test is [L3]: does either sub-kind publish a fact its sibling cannot? A pad publishes none — every candidate turned out shared. A wear indicator looked pad-only and is not: heavy commercial drum brakes are sold with lining wear sensors, so the slot lives on the parent and a shoe may answer it. A shoe publishes exactly two — the drum diameter it is ground to, which is not a new slot at all but the spine's own `diameter` under the maker's own field name, and whether the parking-brake lever comes riveted to its web — AND TWO OPTIONAL SLOTS ON THE PARENT ARE NOT A CLASS. It is the condition H1-f6 put `OilFilter` on permanent notice for, and minting a class this batch that the next batch would have to fold is the padding [A11] the campaign has been refusing all along. So `diameter` and `parking_brake_lever` sit here, unstated by pads, on the tolerance b154 recorded for `pour_point` and `viscosity_grade` on `ServiceFluid`, and `friction_part_form` carries the distinction the trade actually sells on. THE FOLD'S COMPLETENESS WAS CHECKED AT THE MOMENT OF THE FOLD [H2-f16], not after. What does a pad publish that a shoe does not, and can this class say all of it? A pad's noise treatment — `noise_damping`. A pad's wear provision, in the three states Textar prints — `wear_indication`. A pad's dimensions, published by Textar and Brembo as length x height x thickness (WVA 25720 = 131.5 x 58.4 x 17.3 mm, Brembo printing thickness as `TH`) — the spine's `width`, `height` and `depth`, WHICH ARE NOT RE-MINTED [A11]. A shoe's dimensions, published by TRW as drum 180 mm x width 32 mm, and Brembo's S 83 531 as Diameter 200 mm x Width 37 mm — the spine's `diameter` and `width`, neither re-minted. A shoe's parking-brake lever, published as its own criterion by Textar (84062500 with, 91048400 without) — `parking_brake_lever`, and that slot is what the fold cost. Both forms publish a compound, a grade and an axle. Nothing in the fold is unsayable. WHAT THE SPINE ALREADY CARRIES, AND IS THEREFORE NOT RE-MINTED. Identity: the WVA and FMSI numbers Brembo prints on its own label are `trade_identifier` under `identifier_scheme`, and both schemes are added to the live vocabulary rather than given a property [A11]; `brand`, `manufacturer` and `model_name` are already there, and [R31] holds — a Toyota-boxed pad made by Advics states both. Compliance: the ECE R90 approval every replacement friction part sold in Europe must bear is the live `certification` value `ECE / UNECE approval`, and the Better Brake Rule and KC marks Brembo prints beside it are added to the same live vocabulary. Measurement, AND THE MAPPING IS WRITTEN OUT HERE BECAUSE THE FIELD NAMES DO NOT ALL MATCH AND AN UNWRITTEN MAPPING IS A GUARANTEED MIS-IMPORT [A7 amendment]: the houses' published `Width` is the spine's `width`, their published `Height` is `height`, their published `Thickness` — the whole block including the backing plate — is `depth`, and a shoe's or lining's published `inner brake drum diameter` is `diameter`. Textar 2445403 (75.5 x 130.5 x 17 mm) and Brembo P83024N (116 x 44 x 15 mm) are the instances; `depth` carries no definition of its own in the live pool, which is exactly why this sentence has to live on the class. Also `net_weight`. Facet: `material` — the STEEL BACKING PLATE, which is why the friction compound needed a slot of its own and got one. Media and identity prose: the fitment the shop wrote on the sheet, `Noah SR40 ya Mbele`, goes in `description` and `also_known_as` verbatim, exactly where the 2026-08-25 ruling put it. ONE SLOT HERE IS ON NOTICE, written in so a later session cannot miss it: `axle_position` is a fact about any part fitted to one end of a vehicle and not about friction at all — the trade publishes the same field on discs, wheel bearings, shock absorbers, wheel cylinders and calipers — so it LIFTS to a common parent under [L5] the moment a second axle-side kind is seeded, which is the very next vertical. This class then keeps six exclusive slots and must be re-tested under [L3] at that moment. The shape of H1-f6, H2-f7 and H3-f5. WHAT THE SOURCE MAY AND MAY NOT WITNESS. Habib's fourteen rows are the DEMAND SIGNAL only; the sheet carries no specification of any kind and its note column has two authors. Every differentia above stands on a document read at the mint: Bosch's published QuietCast material — the three formulations, the shims, the slots and chamfers, the powder-coated backing plate; Brembo's own guide to reading its box label, field by field; Textar's published per-part dimensions and its three distinct wear-indicator claims; TRW's GS8737 shoe set; and the published edge codes of Wagner ZD2382, Bendix SBC2382 and CFC2382, and Raybestos ATD923C. The shop's Swahili *ya Mbele* and *ya Nyuma* turn out to mean front and rear, which `axle_position` happens to carry — but the property stands on Brembo's `mounting axle flag`, not on the note column [L12].
